The Director is responsible for and must be experienced in the direct management and administration of Department of Health and Social Services.
Responsibilities and experience required include the direct management and operations of the social services to include Public Guardian, Public Assistance, MediCAL, CalFresh, CalWORKS, APS, CPS and IHSS programs as well as all welfare and assistance programs provided by County through the Social Services Agency.
The Director is responsible for the management and operation of the Public Health services (including MCAH, WIC, Immunization, Infectious Disease, Family Planning, STD's, Tobacco, Oral Health) and all public health programs through the Public Health Department.
The Director also oversees the environmental health and associated regulatory functions undertaken by the County.
The Director is responsible for day-to-day operations, supervision, and administration, including budget development and personnel recruitment, information technology systems, and asset management.
The Director supervises the work of professional and administrative staff assigned to the respective program areas and activities to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to public health, social service, welfare programs and environmental health matters.

Within six months of the date of hire, the Director will be required to live in the County, or within a 30 minutes response time to the Downieville or Loyalton offices to be able to provide crisis services if needed.
